The owner, a passionate gardener, canner, beekeeper, baker, and maple syrup maker, tasked CB with redesigning their kitchen in a c1805 New England cottage that had been modified over time, resulting in an awkward layout. The new plan transformed the space into a spacious, sunlit kitchen.
A new bank of windows offers views of the garden, beehives, and occasional bears, while filling the room with natural light. Red cabinets with ochre trim and handcrafted tiles evoke a colonial color scheme, and wide honey-colored plank floors blend seamlessly with the original floors. Opposite the windows, a wood-burning stove creates a cozy nook. The updated layout provides ample counter space, storage, and room for dining.
